Just days after completing the transfer of James Rodriguez from
Monaco for £60 million, Real Madrid have gone some way of recouping that
outlay by selling over 900 shirts per hour tafter his unveiling and
over 300,000 in the last two days.
L’Equipe revealed on Thursday evening that in less than two days (48
hours), Los Blancos have sold 345,000 replica Rodriguez shirts with
total earnings standing at £21million on those sales alone.
Reports from Spain said the Real Madrid shop had to draft in extra
hands to deal with the excessive demand for the new No. 10 shirts at the
club shop on the day of the Colombian’s unveiling at the Bernebeu.
Another Galactico that Real signed in the past, David Beckham
reportedly sold more than a million replica jerseys in his first year at
Real Madrid.
In total, Beckham has sold a humongous £1billion in shirt and boot
sales in his career and made £15million when he signed a short
five-month with PSG during the 2013/13 season.
